Mouser launches Mikroe PIR Click board equipped with KEMET pyroelectric infrared sensor

PIR Click is a pyroelectric sensor that supports human presence detection in a series of consumer electronics and IoT applications. The PIR Click board is equipped with KEMET Electronics’ PL-N823-01 pyroelectric infrared sensor (PIR), which supports the detection of the human body through glass or resin. This high-performance sensor is an ideal solution for applications such as office automation, non-contact switches, lighting, air conditioning, and other consumer products.

The Mikroe PIR Click board supplied by Mouser generates voltage when it detects infrared radiation emitted by the human body. Low-power sensors are triggered by moving objects, so they can exhibit energy-saving characteristics in applications that rely on human presence detection. The PIR Click board includes a white plastic Fresnel filter that can filter visible light so that the sensor can detect infrared signals emitted by the human body. The onboard PL-N823-01 PIR sensor uses KEMET’s proprietary piezoelectric ceramic material and component structure, which provides greater design freedom for products using resin or glass.

The PIR Click board is part of the Mikroe Click Board ecosystem. Its modular design allows developers to connect any Click board to a standard mikroBUS socket without any hardware configuration. The multi-functional mikroBUS standard socket contains all the pins needed to connect to Mikroe’s entire Click board, including wireless communication modules, sensor modules and other accessories.
