From January 15th to 17th, Nidec participated in the Japan International New Energy Vehicle Technology Exhibition held at the Tokyo Convention and Exhibition Center.
(Exhibition area with crowds)
In this exhibition, Nidec’s newly developed drive motor system “E-Axle” series of 200kW and 50kW, which is dedicated to electric vehicles and integrates motors, reducers and inverters, attracted attention. Among them, the 200kW drive motor system is specially designed for the “Aion S” and “Aion LX” products of GAC New Energy Vehicles. Compared with the popular 150kW drive motor system (in mass production) at home and abroad, this product not only maintains the original features of high energy efficiency, compact structure, light weight, etc., the size of the motor and reducer has also been improved, and the power has increased by 30%. %, the weight is 95 kg, which is only 9% more than the 150kW model. The product is positioned for high-end cars in the Chinese and European markets. Another feature of the 50kW drive motor system is that the reducer in the motor is changed from the original three-axis to one-axis, which greatly reduces the product volume (W540mm×H300mm×D330mm). This product is positioned for small-displacement cars in the Japanese market (total displacement not higher than 660cc) and cars in the Southeast Asian market.

The R&D staff stated that this time, on the basis of the existing 150kW, 100kW, and 70kW products, the 200kW and 50kW products have been developed again. Therefore, Nidec’s drive motor system can meet the needs of 98% of the world’s car models. As far as the current stage is concerned, in terms of the types of drive motor products, there has not yet been a company comparable to this company in the market.
The 150kW drive motor system was first put into production at the Pinghu plant in Zhejiang Province, China in April 2019. The four products of 100kW, 70kW, 50kW, and 200kW are scheduled to follow in the second half of fiscal year 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Put into production. In addition, the company announced in the third quarter performance briefing that the order for this product has reached 10 million units by 2025.
To meet the rapid development needs of Chinese customers, Nidec is now building a research and development center for automotive products in Suzhou. The R&D center will be officially put into use in April or May this year. At present, 70 R&D personnel have been successfully recruited, and the R&D team will increase to 200 in the future, specializing in the development of drive motor systems.
